Papadiamanti Street

The lively main street running through the heart of Skiathos Old Town all the way down to the port is famous Papadiamanti Street.

Named after the island’s world famous Greek writer, Alexandros Papadiamantis, it is the town’s main commercial street.                                                                          

Brimming on either side with colorful souvenir and gift shops, upcoming Greek designer stores, along with banks, cafés and local tavernas, Papadiamanti Street is considered the pulse of the town.

Known as the father of Modern Greek Literature, Skiathos town holds a special place for Alexandros Papadiamantis in its heart. Within walking distance of the port, in a small alley leading to a beautiful little square with a striking tree in its center, the house he lived in until his death in 1911 was converted into a museum, dedicated to honoring his life and work.
