Saint George’s lagoon reaches Skiathos’ port’s bay through a very small, narrow canal. Your leisurely stroll can be combined with a visit to St. George’s picturesque chapel. Also, during your walk around the lake, you may be lucky enough to encounter an airplane’s landing or takeoff from a very, very close distance. In between the lake and the sea, there is the island’s one and only “carnagio” (: the dock). The route behind the lake can lead you either to the north beach of “Xanemos” or, if you turn right, it can lead you to “Pounta” area (famous for its mesmerizing view of the city of Skiathos). Additionally, if you make it to the top of the hill, by walking into stunning, natural scenery, you will be able to overlook Skiathos’ neighbouring island, Skopelos.
