Memorial of Katsonis

On September 14th a WWII annual celebration takes place in the Old Port of Skiathos town, commemorating and honoring the lost crew of the Katsonis submarine. The vessel was sunk by a German ship, causing 32 men to die, 19 to be captured, while 3 managed to swim to freedom. Today, the Katsonis submarine lays in the depths of the Kastro bay area. The monument on which the names of those who lost their lives heroically are mentioned, in the old port of Skiathos will surely catch your attention.
